At Oxfordshire Taekwon-do we take our martial arts VERY seriously but we NEVER take OURSELVES too seriously. We produce national champions and international competitors but we want our students and instructors to enjoy what they do!
The social aspect of any activity is a main reason why many people stay involved and we recognise that. This is why our classes are fun. This is why we have regular social activities (including Friday Pub Night). Many of our students have made great friendships through their time with us.

3 years ago I joined OXTKD with no idea of what I was letting myself in for. I knew no-one it was the daunting...60 minutes later I asked where can I signed on the dotted line to join!!!!! It’s been one of the best decisions I have made.
My family and I started 4 years ago as a way to get fit as well as a way to learn self defence.
My oldest did not have much confidence , we found that within a few months she had made new friends that have the same interests and that help her come out her shell.
Personal I think OXTKD has done wonders for all of us in our wellbeing as well as our physical and mental strength..
He now walks into classes, gradings and competitions confidently with his head held high...I only wish we'd found it and OXTKD sooner

As humans it is common for us to look for excuses to avoid new or challenging things. Successful people look for solutions not problems!
"I'm not fit enough"
You don't have to be fit to start. Fitness is a product of consistent and regular exercise. By attending our classes fitness will come much quicker than you expect.
"I won't be any good"
No one is good at the start. When you start you will be a white belt, a beginner. Everyone was a white belt once and we all remember what it was like. We do not expect you to be a black belt in your first month. In a few weeks you will see substantial improvements. You must be patient until then and have fun. Enjoy the journey!
"I don't want to be hit"
At OXTKD we teach you to NOT get hit. We won't make you spar unless you want to and that won't be until you are VERY ready. For partner work we always match people to their equals. You will be safe with us.
"I'm too old"
What age is too old to care about your health? We have had students in their 80's. Taekwon-do is for life not just your teens.
"I'm not flexible enough"
Very few people are flexible when they start. However, by attending regular classes (which contain stretching routines) you will see your whole body's flexibility improve massively. Flexibility is for life not just martial arts.
"Its too expensive"
Your classes will each cost less than a trip to the pub or McDonalds and they will be infinitely better for your mental and physical health. Invest in yourself and improve your flexibility, fitness and confidence.
